Last night my husband and I got thai takeout and watched an old DVD from our collection.  He picked 'The Station Agent', it came out in 2003 and I had forgotten what a wonderful film this is!!  If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend adding it to your netflix queue and plan for a relaxing evening in.  signed, me {CA}

Really good movie....

I watched Valley of Elah last night, and it was the first movie I've seen in a long time that I finished and said, "wow, that was really good."...I actually stayed up until 11:30 to watch it, and that is saying somethign on a Sunday night.    I'm trying to make my way through the movies on the "it list" from 2007...saw No Country for Old Men and to be honest, I was more impressed with Valley of Elah, I think his preformance in it (Tommy Lee Jones) was amazing.  The message of the movie was powerful.  Anyway, definitely worth your precious time :-).  Signed, ME {lv}

A couple of movies!

We had friends over for dinner last night and we started a huge debate about the movie, Gone Baby Gone.  It stars Casey Afleck and Morgan Freedman.  Really interesting movie--the kind that you debate later around the dinner table which I love.  I also saw the movie "Once", which is a really beautiful movie about music, and love (one of the songs in it won Best Song at the Oscars).  It doesn't star anyone, and the movie was apparently shot in 3 weeks on a camcorder (or so I heard), but you finish watching it and you are surprised by how much you liked it (given that the movie is very simple and contains mostly music.)  Signed, ME {lv}

How is it possible?

How is it possible that there is a Big Brother 9 on t.v.?  NINE.....????  It has been around for 9 seasons.  No disrespect to those of you who love it and watch it (my mother-in law and sister-in law are among you)....there is no denying that I love my trashy t.v.... Such a great movie I saw.....

I saw a really good movie last night called "Away from Her".  Probably would be termed a "chick flick", but I saw it with my husband and we both thought it was a really beautiful movie.  Let me warn you though, it is SAD, I cried throughout the movie.  It is a slow moving, simple, but powerful movie about this couple dealing with Alzheimer (the wife gets it).  It is very well done though, and there were some really interesting things said by the characters.   One of my favorite lines was something to the effect of, "you just never know how things will turn out, you have a pretty good idea, but you never really know."    It is one of those movies that is the pictorial of a true love affair...the good, bad, and the ugly.  Signed, ME {lv}

Great documentary....

If you have HBO, you should make a point of seeing the documentary "Sand and Sorrow" about Darfur.  Excellent, horrific, necessary to see....  Signed, ME {lv}

Snakes on a Plane.

I have to say, that I watched about 20 minutes of this movie while working the other night, and I damned near died laughing. It is an absolutely horrible movie in every respect, a spoof to be sure of movies in this genre.  But the funniest part is when (somewhere toward the end of the movie), Samuel L. Jackson (whom I really like), says--or I should say screamed, and I quote, "I'm so tired of these motherf----ing  snakes on a plane."  I felt EXACTLY the same way :-), I was so tired of snakes on a plane I was compelled to change the channel after his comment!!  My husband didn't think it was nearly as funny as I did (probably because of the swearing, he is like a alterboy when it comes to swearing--he NEVER does it....while me, I minored in it in college).  Anyway, I'm writing this in the event someone else actually saw this movie and thought it was as horrible and funny as I did.  Signed, ME {lv}

Documentary to see.....

Randomly I flipped through the movie stations and landed on a Showtime documentary about marijuana called "In Pot We Trust".  VERY interesting documentary, with all sides of the issue, and in depth discussions.  It highlights 5 stories of people who use marijuana for medical purposes.  I knew very little about the topic, and didn't realize I knew very little until I saw this documentary.  No matter where you fall on the issue, it is a well done movie with lots of info so catch it if you have Showtime.  Signed, ME {lv}

Interesting movie to see!

I rarely see movies anymore it seems, especially since I got pregnant because my new bedtime seems to be around 9:00 p.m..  Last night I splurged though and rented a movie, "Little Children".  I think it is a relatively new release, with Kate Winslet and Jennifer Connolly.  It seemed long to me, and was a slowly meandering movie about marriage, relationships, affairs, deviants, forgiveness, the feelings we long from childhood, children, and life.  To be honest I haven't fully processed the full meaning of the movie, but it was very interesting and the acting was amazing.  It is the kind of movie you wish you had a "movie club" in which to analyze it....I so wish I had seen it with someone so I could discuss it!  Excellent movie though, I recommend it!  Signed, ME {lv}
