Must see movie!

It has been a long time since I've seen a regular "grown up" movie, so perhaps my standards are all skewed, but I just saw the most beautiful children's movie EVER....it was called "Up".  We got it for the kids to watch, and I really thought it wouldn't be much more than a brightly color, cutesy, animated children's movie.  It was wonderful though, and even without children I would see it.  Honestly, I think it was one of the better love stories I've seen all year, if not in years.  I cried...TWICE (and I can't remember the last movie that made me cried...especially in the first 20 minutes WITHOUT any words actually being spoken).   I strongly recommend renting this movie if you haven't, it is completely appropriate for children obviously, but it had a beautiful story line that kept this adult completely entertained.   Signed, ME {lv}

Words of wisdom from Heidi Fliess--Hollywood madame!

Laugh if you will, but late last night I indulged in 30 minutes of mindless television...and by mindless, I mean MINDLESS television.  It was the HBO documentary on Heidi Fliess and whatever she is doing now.   Now, I spent the majority of the time trying to figure out exactly what kind of weird plastic surgery she appeared to have done, and the other half trying to figure out how she lived in such disorder and serious filth....but I will say that she said something that I thought was really interesting.  The upshot of her statement was that everyone has dirty laundry, stuff that they are dealing with that is bad.  Everyone thinks their dirty laundry is worse than everyone else's, but if you were to throw everyone's dirty laundry into the middle of the room, you'd be scrabbling to find yours again.  I think her meaning was that your "bad" stuff that you think is bad, probably isn't nearly as bad as other people's and in a grab bag of bad, you'd probably want your own crap back.  I kind of thought that was a good point, sort of made me think "big perspective".  Sorry guys, I just though I would try and find something meaningful from my 30 minutes lost forever on Heidi Fliess!!  Signed, ME {lv}

Movies and the price of popcorn!

We've recently taken the kids to two "new" movies....The Bee Movie, and Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium (both were "o.k." by the way, not amazing).  But what really gets me, is the price of pop corn and soda.  Seriously....what I want to know is how is it possible that I can walk into Old Navy and buy a kid's shirt for $5 but can't buy a soda for under $4.50 (our medium popcorn was officially $6.50)??   I would feel so much less frustrated with the movie-going experience if they would just make the movie treats the appropriate amount, and charge more for the movie if they have to in order to make money.  The entire experience for an afternoon movie for a family of 4 is around $45--can you believe that???  I'm sure that is actually cheaper than some cities too....I probably shouldn't even be complaining!  Signed, ME {lv}
