Velvet: Velvet looked pretty, I only saw July and August deliveries, but the colors were beautiful...shades of deep mallard and deep berry. They did lots of great tops that would perfect for day to night wear, and simple styles with little details (like a long sleeve cotton crew with tiny buttons at the cuffs). They only did a few cashmere styles, maybe 3 styles, but they were awfully nice. They also did a few jackets in their washable sueded fabric with this cool new "furry" type lining that is a bit different from years past.
Burning Torch: I've long been a fan, but fall wasn't really doing it for me. There were a couple of really amazing pieces, but I wan't blown away sadly. Maybe the later fall deliveries will be amazing, lets hope!!
Eileen Fisher: It looked beautiful. Really pretty colors (deep reds, pops of orange, a gorgeous lilac color and a larkspur blue). The cashmere was particularly amazing this year. Last year I thought it looked o.k., but I think I only ordered one style, one color (to be honest it seemed a little expensive and when I felt it I wasn't blown away). This year I ordered several styles, and multiple colors because it felt divine! There were also some amazing coats (I can think of this long one in an oatmeal color that was gorgeous). EF fans will NOT be disappointed with fall.
Michael Stars: The colors looked great, as did the new styles. I'm on the fence about the cashmere to be honest though ladies, so let me know if you have any comments. I didn't buy it last year because I wasn't that impressed with the "feel" of it. Often when you feel a sample it isn't the same quality as the final product (sometimes it is), so I was a little weary because it was the first year. I just hate feeling cashmere and wondering if it was really cashmere--or thinking that it could easily be a blend and I'd believe it. I guess I think it should really feel soft and "cashmere-ish". Anyway, the new styles this year are cute, but again, I'm a not so impressed with the feel. Has anyone bought it and loved it? Unless some of you tell me it is the next best thing and worth the price tag, I'm passing....
Side note:....I'm a little curious how everyone will react to fall in general. The styles are NOT hanger friendly to be honest. There was so much of the bigger tunic look, and the shorter boxier babydoll-ish tunics and none of them hang well...meaning you see them and wonder WHY you'd actually try them on. They look a bit pregnancy. I think a lot of people look great in some of the styles, but you actually have to get them on the body to make that determination for sure, because off the body they look scary. I also think people are going to have to commit to either one of two looks....either a skinny or straight leg jeans (or pant), or leggings, in order to wear some of these tunic styles. I like the straight leg jean (vs the skinny which doesn't look as good on most people), and small doses of the legging (with really long tunics--nothing short).
Rachel Pally: Really cute for fall. I love her short sleeve tee so that is coming in July, as is this very cool tie front tank. There were a couple of really cute new dress designs that were easy to wear and one in particular that I love had this retro hollywood design that I think everyone will love! She also did this great cover-up this year in black, with roomy arms and ruffles along the sleeves and bottom hem, exactly the type of thing you'd throw on over a dress etc. for an event.
Final notes tomorrow...
