Hi there ladies! Sorry I haven’t ‘blogged’ in a while. Things have been hectic here in the northwest! I think it has something to do with the change of seasons… but life just seems a little bit crazier than normal. Anyhoo! I thought I would share my first DIY crafty tid-bit. I am in the midst of making sun jars. I’m using them as part of my outdoor wedding decor but I think they would be perfect in a rustic garden! I found the idea in Readymade, which is fantastic modern crafts magazine. It’s pretty simple. You take the LCD solar panel out of a garden light. (I used the cheapest amber colored one they had at Walmart…Malibu.) Remove carefully, and cut the plastic around the fixture using a strong pair of scissors. Then take a French canning jar, looks like a mason jar but has a glass lid that latches down, you will want to frost the bottom half of the jar but leave the lid clear. (You can buy glass frost at any craft store.) When that is dry you mount the solar LCD light to lid, I recommend using super glue, quick and easy. Make sure that the solar panel is facing up and that the light will hang down in the middle of the jar. Voila! A much prettier and unique way to light an outdoor space! I think if you hung a few from an overhang at different levels it would be adorable, like little firefly jars! signed me,{c}
