Mother's Day is coming up in just a couple of weeks and I'm racking my brain trying to come up with something special for my mom...and mother-in-law. So I thought I would pass on two of my better ideas that were really special and hopefully someone will have a new idea that I can steal!
About 4 years ago I bought my mother and my mother in-law a mother's pendant, Muse Mother's Pendant, you can customize it however you want, so I had the children's birthstones put in, and the grand-children's birthstones. Since then I've added stones for additional grandchildren and the necklace has only become more beautiful. They loved this, it was special and personal, and a real piece of "jewelry" that is stunning in person.
My other favorite gift to my "mothers" was a Memory Book. This was pretty time consuming, but it turned out wonderful. I took a paper photo albumn book (the kind you use paper corners to secure the pictures), and then I took memories from everyone in the family about her motherhood, child-hood etc., and wrote them on cards and secured them with photo corners. I did a ton of decorations and jazzed it up sort of like a scrap book, with one family picture at the back of the book. It was really neat to put together though, so hear everyone else's thoughts on their child hood and their mother, and both my mother and mother-in-law loved it. It is nice for a mother to read through something that remembers all the special little things (and big things) that you do over the course of so many years that make an impact on the family. Time comsuming project, but very special (and very inexpensive)!
If you have any good Mother's Day gifts, share them!!
