The other day I went to a rental house we own that is near a small private university...and met a potential renter. She arrived wearing these AG fine cords (I recognized the color from last spring), a little simple cami (complete with frayed strap) and these short boots. Now, she was riding her bike and probably was all of 20 years old, but I couldn't help looking at her thinking "that is why young people look young". They put things together with a carefree hand, everything always looks a little random and less thought out (sort of like they rolled out bed after a night of fun and simply pulled on what was next to the bed or what was semi clean and went). I guess when you are riding your bike across town you care less that your shoes match or that you are wearing the perfect top with the pants. She looked pretty darn cute though, and it reminded me of how much I love those jeans. Anyway, the point was, she looked youthful and fresh and it had little to do with the fact that she had a lot fewer wrinkles...she just looked "cool" without trying hard and without being "too put together". Lets face it, there is a lot you can do with a little cash nowadays to stave off the wrinkles so it isn't that aspect that I think ages us, or sets us apart from that girl who is 20. NOT that I want to BE 20 again, but I don't want to loose the youthful attitude that comes with youth. I don't want my style and life to be so thought out that I can't capture a little of that "ease" , and little of that "randomness." Perhaps it is all a facade and it wasn't random at all--that her thrown on outfit was actually painstakingly thought out, but regardless, that is the look I'd like to go for. I better to plan out my random and youthful outfit for the day :-). Signed, ME {lv}
The great thing about Melange is you can find the perfect casual piece that provides just this youthful, thrown together, georgous look. I'm thinking of my hardtail anorak, prairie underground sweatshirt, or a wonderful vince cardigan. I truly think wearing these items have changed my outlook on life. Thank you Melange!!!
