My hubby and I just got back from a wonderful lil' vacay for our first anniversary. We did a long weekend in San Francisco and then a few days in Sonoma, it was a perfect time filled with friends, laughter, and A LOT of food and wine. I'm not kidding about the last part....San Fran is a serious foodie type of town. And lucky for us we have some professional foodie friends who showed us the ropes. Here's a quick rundown of my favorites, if you're travelling through you should definitely check these out...
NOPA (north of the panhandle) serves up urban rustic food and specializes in organic wood-fired cuisine. And holy smokes... it was delicious!! We split a wide variety of apps, entrees, and desserts from the menu, everything was fantastic. And Nopa is known among the locals to have the BEST burger in town.
Next up was Universal Cafe.... we were actually seeking out sushi, but our plans were foiled when we realized there was 6 of us late on a Saturday with no reservations. Oh well, no matter... this quaint place cleared out by 9:30, just in time for all 6 of us to get a table with no wait, although it would have been worth it. They specialize in organic food, and once again we were happy (and full!) campers.
We headed up north (after a few more meals in San Fran, one of which was made by our friend who is a chef at the Boulevard... super swank, if you get a chance to go do not pass it up) and up to Sonoma. What beautiful scenery... straight out of a magazine. My cutie-pie husband had a few surprises waiting for me in that town, one of which was lunch at The Girl & The Fig.... yummm! This whole town was so amazing, I would love to spend all of my time there!
It was probably the most delicious weekend I've ever had... the only worry now is whether or not my jeans will still fit. ;) signed, me {CA}
