I've been prepping for a very dear friend's baby shower that I'm throwing in November, and in efforts to be "highly organized" I made the sugar cookies early (and froze them) that I'm using for the party favors. Since generally speaking I shy away from anything too difficult in the baking department, I thought I would share this recipe I found on this great blog called Blonde Designs , because it was super easy and delicious. There is both cookie and frosting recipe on that link. The cookies were super yum, AND the frosting was easy and tasty too (I only did the buttercream...haven't tried the Royal icing which I'll actually need to do the day before the shower since the Royal icing is more durable and will hold up in the cellophane baggies.) The girls were helping me, and they didn't last thru a 3 hour "dough chilling" period, so just so you know...the cookies taste JUST fine if you chill for about 5 minutes in the freezer before rolling :-).
Also on this blog...this adorable idea which I particularly love because you could do it with your kids start to finish and not get too crazy (so many baking projects are tough with kids because they last about 1/2 way thru if you are lucky and then the mess gets out of control and they get impatient). I think this project is totally manageable too (and the only thing I might love more than a Milano cookie...is one dipped in chocolate)!!
(store bought Milano cookies dipped in white chocolate with mini chocolate chips as eyes)
LOVE this blog, they are just ingenious!!
