I wrote fall 2012 orders today and was schooled on merino wool so I thought I'd pass on the cool knowledge I learned. Merino wool is from a particular kind of sheep, that produces long skinny fibers, vs. other sheep's wool, that produce short fat fibers. The long skinny fibers have less things poking out of it after woven...the short fibers have more little "pokies" after woven--hence the itchiness. Every time we get Emu in, I'm amazed by how incredibly soft it is, and most of the time I couldn't place it as "wool". It is washable, ridiculously soft, and wool is the perfect fiber for keeping you warm, OR keeping you cool (it wicks moistures from your body and will actually keep you cooler when it gets too hot).
I'm currently crazy about the new ombre dyed scarves....beautiful colors, and a piece that I'd wear year-round! Signed, ME {lv}
