I have to share this little story, because it just cracked me up and after all, it IS Mother's Day weekend! Gia is 4 1/2 years old....and as the youngest of 3 girls, and 3rd in line, she is realizing that to get some "attention" in between her 9 year old sister who knows how to work the system, and her little brother whom mom can't stand stop fawning over, she is going to have to make her mark. The problem with the mark is that it often consistents of some tantrum throwing. So last night, I declared that Ipad time was now officially over, to which she immediately said "NO". This quickly escalated to her positioning her legs into a wider, fighting stance, her hands on her hips, and really loud declarations of 'no', 'not going to do it' and 'it's not fair'. I kept my cool, as I'm washing dishes and praying for bedtime. I looked at her calmly, and said "Gia, no more Ipad, you are going to go to bed soon". I think my calmness then proceeded to set her into a frenzy, because her face got all red, she clamped down her jaw and she screamed, "you're the worst mommy"....and then, "you are....you are....big pause as she is obviously struggling to find something really horrible to say...."you are a DIVA...big pause...with a BUTT".
Hhhhhhmmmmm, a Diva with a butt? Well, I've been called worse that's for sure :-). I cracked up, no one has ever called me a diva before, I might even LIKE it....and a butt, well, I definitely HAVE a butt, so maybe the whole phrase is fitting. Thank you Gia, I actually prefer that to, "you're the worst mommy"!!
Happy Mother's Day to all you mamas, may the worst thing your kids ever call you is "Diva Butt"!!
Signed, ME {lv}
