Well, it's happened. I'm officially 46. And it's awesome already! The Mr. and I decided to celebrate by dining on Division street and then dropping by the ANDAZ 10 year Anniversary Dance Party! My good friend Stephen Strausbaugh is an amazing DJ. Along with his beautiful wife he makes up the team of DJ Anjali and The Incredible Kid and let me tell you, they know how to throw down the Indian Bollywood Dance Beats!
The dance party was at Branx, a very cool brick warehouse on 2nd street and the night was warm and golden. At 9pm the club wasn't open yet, but up the street we could hear the sounds of an Indie rock band playing outside. The lights from their outdoor stage were just visible and the music sounded good, so we moved in that direction.
I don't know what that band was called, but they were great! Melodic, simple, then loud and rocking, then soft and thoughtful again. The whole time there was this beautiful light from the sunset on one side and a giant neon Chevy Wentworth sign on the other. Cool!
When we returned to the Andaz party Stephen had taken the stage and was spinning the raddest music! His wife Anjou joined him and gave us all a dance lesson, instantly improving my moves a thousand percent. She is su
ch a great dancer, she does these glamorous indian
moves but with this hip hop-type kick to it! Love her! And of course then there's Mr. Incredible Kid himself, all seriously fly with his headphones and records. You have got to go to one of these parties, ladies, put it on your bucket list!
So, turning 46 was definitely fun. I don't dread getting older, just getting less rad! And as long as there is good food, company, pretty dresses and amazing DJ's, that won't happen. Cheers! (love, DR)
