Here in the northwest we find a melancholy beauty in the misty pines and mountain peaks. Spring here can be a long, cold, wet affair, but we're hardy folk who know gortex from gabardine, and don't shy away from the elements. Sometimes however, the wet slog into April and May becomes mo
re than melancholy, it becomes downright depressing! So we decided to shrug off the doldrums, get out of the house, and explore the wet and windy coast.
The Oregon coast is a wild and beautiful thing. Rugged rocks and tide pools, bent pines and electric green moss evoke both ancient elements, and modern art. Even in the teeth of a cold blast from the sea, the air is rejuvinating, clean and clears your head. We spent the night at a cozy cabin with a fireplace the sandy dog layed at our feet. Bliss.
The trip was barely 24 hours, but it did the trick. I now feel cleansed, relaxed, and ready for action. (Plus, we did not miss the opportunity to wear our new blanet-back jacket, and favorite Satori Rue Necklace!) Coastal cool.
