We are truly blessed here in the northwest. This spring and summer have been full of our much-longed-for sunshine. Though there hasn't been any rain in months, the trees are evergreen, the creeks are still babbling and the mountains invite us into their leafy green folds. Sunday morning Mr. Rios and I drove out into the Columbia Gorge again, this time to explore Eagle Creek, only 30 minutes outside Portland. It was simply...a piece of heaven. Divine, lush, serene, and full of life. I sat by the stream and put my toes in the cold water, listening to that wonderful sound of water tinkling over smooth rocks. There was a Dipper Bird nearby going under the water and swimming like a salmon through the rapids. I would love to be a dipper bird, they seem to have so much fun in the water! We got there early and avoided most of the crowds, but it was a crazy place when we decided to leave. People are loud, too. They don't seem to care that their motorcycles might be spoiling someone else's serene moment by the creek. As a rule I try to avoid crowds, and luckily I am a morning person, so getting places early works extremely well! Can't wait to go back, get some early bird coffee in the tiny nearby town of Cascade Locks, and watch for ospreys!
Happy Monday everyone! xoxoxo Diane
