It's been a few weeks since I found out, so I've had time to digest the news....but Isda & Co. is no more. She has closed her company, called it good, and said her goodbyes. The summer line I had picked out, it's not coming, and that was exactly how I found out. An email from our rep while I was in France saying "they were shocked too" but "summer was not shipping" and Isda was shutting her doors. For good.
It was sad, sad news, of course first off because I have really loved the line thru the years....some years more than others, but there have been a lot of years, and no designer nails all of them. We've also carried Isda & Co. for almost all of the 14 years that I've been here---and that's a lot of years, so there is some simple nostalgia with the sadness at her departure. I can't tell you how many times I sat in the showroom with our rep (for at least half of the time we carried Isda), Kathleen, either with a baby Bjorn, or nursing a baby, or pregnant....gabbing it up with her and talking shop. Hearing her dating stories and woes of dating in your 30's. Years later she left Isda, had a baby and married some guy that I sure hope treats her better than he did then. Anyway, the point is, Isda has been around for a long time, and weathered a lot with us. I raise my glass to her because she did an amazing job of riding the tide of the fashion industry, while finding her own niche and her own approach. The apparel world has changed a lot, it's fickle, tough, brutal sometimes....and to find space in it to get your artistic expression out there is no easy feat. She will be missed in our store.

I am so sad Isda & Co. is gone too. Feels like I have lost a "friend" too in a way! I have MANY Isda pieces I've worn over the years and will continue to wear.

That is terrible news, but thank you for sharing. I actually discovered your online store many years ago because I had to have an Isda dress that I saw advertised in the NY Times and I could only find it here. I still have that dress and to this day it makes me feel confident, beautiful, and professional. I continue to wear her designs on a regular basis.
