Growing up, my Mom never let us say that we "hate" anything. She always said it was too strong of a word, and that it wasn't nice. If we found we really didn't like something, we had to say we "immensely disliked" it. Well, sometimes "hate" doesn't even feel like a strong of enough word. So, I feel like I am justified in saying that I really, REALLY hate bananas (sorry Mom, immensely dislike doesn't really get my point across). I remember my Mom used to make me eat them, and I would always throw a fit. Being the drama queen that I am, she just chalked it up to that. One day, as I was literally gagging a banana down, I remember my Mom saying, "wow, you really don't like bananas, and I don't think you are going to learn to like them either". Ever since then, she never made me eat anther banana, and I avoided them like the plague. I know they are SO good for you, and super convenient, and I wished I liked them so much. And, with the blood sugar/blood pressure issues I deal with sometimes, I know they are the perfect food, but I really just hate them. About two years ago Danielle and I decided to try this cleanse. The breakfast started out with a banana, blueberry, almond milk smoothie. It had probably been almost 2 decades since I had touched a banana (no joke), so I thought that "maybe my tastes had changed" and "how bad could it really be?". I was going to do this!! Well, breakfast: day 1 of the cleanse rolls around, I make my smoothie (I decided to drink it with a straw so if I could taste the banana, it would be less bad), and take a big drink. The second it touched my tongue I threw it right back up (sorry for the TMI). It was terrible, and the cleanse took a downhill slide from there. haha.
Okay, so that was all the back story!! LOL. I know it's a lot, but I really need you to understand my hatred for bananas. ;) So, there is this juice smoothie blend that I drink EVERY morning with my breakfast for at least the last 7 years. I LOVE it. I love the taste, color, it balances me, and my day just really doesn't feel right without it. I don't drink coffee. I drink my juice. Todd knows he isn't allowed to touch it...one bottle, perfectly portioned out, lasts exactly one week, which is ultra convenient for grocery shopping once a week. Last night I ran out of the juice, as will happen. Got some more, and this morning, poured my glass, made my breakfast, and took it all in the car with me to eat on the way to work (I know, bad habit, but it happens. :( ). I am driving along, grab my cup, and take a big drink of juice....
IT NOW HAS BANANAS IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I smelled it before I tasted it, but really didn't put two and two together. The morning was filled with sheer crisis. When I got home from work, I ran to the fridge and checked the label...sure enough, they added bananas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who thought that was a good idea?!?!?! Like after all this time, they were sitting in a conference room, and someone looked at someone else, and said, "I know we haven't changed the recipe in YEARS, but I think we should add bananas, because yeah, I don't really want to come up with something new!!"?? I compared it to the empty bottle in the recycle, and it was the only difference (just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy. ;) ). I have spent the better part of a decade drinking that juice in the AM, and now it's over! What am I to do?? Guess I will be getting out my juicer every morning, and starting a new routine. Change is good I guess...I can figure out a new routine - and I can be sure it won't involve bananas.
