Ahhh, August. Feels like a world away right now, doesn't it? It's 29 degrees outside at the moment, the world is totally frozen and still, the streets and sidewalks are slick with ice, squirrels are shivering in the pine trees, the heater is whining and doing its best to keep us warm, and I'm dreaming of August NOT because it's warm...but because that is when my book will be published!!!!
I just found out this morning, my publication date is August 15th, 2017. Woot!!!!!
I have described the book before, but in case you missed that post, here is my short description of it:
"Bridge of the Gods is a middle-grade-to-adult fantasy set in 1908 on the Oregon Coast. Twelve year-old Chloe Ashton is a wealthy, only child living in the remote wilderness. She prefers animals’ company to that of other children, and spends her days happily exploring the forests around her home. She is delighted when the forest creatures seem to recognize her, follow her, and even to communicate with her. When a family tragedy results in Chloe being abducted and sold to the vagabonds, she is taken deeper into the woods, and discovers just how much the animals know. Set at a time when technology begins to take hold of the land, Bridge of the Gods is a book about the transformative power of nature, finding friendship in the darkest of places, and using an ancient, natural magic to find your way home."
It's an epic tale - at least two books long, and the sequel is already written. I'm so excited to begin the process of the copy editing where I help choose the fonts and layout, and of course the final cover art - I've never done this before, but I can't imagine anything more fun! Stay tuned for more details. Happy weekend! xoxoxo DR
