Christmas Eve. For some, this is go-time. The panic is palpable for those that procrastinated, or for those who just have too much to do, or too many people to do it for, to get it all done in good time. I feel for them, I truly do! I hope they can go easy on themselves and at some point this morning, just pour a glass of something festive and give it up. If it hasn't been done, let it go. Relax, this is your time too! Whether you are single or married with a fleet of children, go easy on yourself. Treat yourself. Take off your shoes and put on those fuzzy slippers and sit in the most comfy chair in the house - I call it my bed - and give yourself some time to enjoy your xmas eve. And your xmas. In whatever form that takes! For me it means watching the original "Miracle on 34th St." I can't explain how xmasy the scenes of New York City in the 1940's makes me feel! Maureen O'Hara as a business woman in her crisp 40's suits, in her pretty apartment right off Columbus Circle, and that super-cool hat she wears at the parade, omg! Ok, I digress.
Another way you might want to conjure up the xmas spirit is to take a look at this amazing story. Le Chateau du Gudanes is a french castle in the village of Chateau-Verdun in southwest France. Karina Waters and her husband Craig have been renovateing this incredible place since 2013. I have been following their story since the early days, and it has been a truly magical journey!!! Watching as they beat back the walls over overgrown bushes to discover a beautiful old greenhouse! Watching them reveal the old stables! Old, forgotten fireplaces and stairwells...the kitchens...and all the many changing views from various windows - it has been fantastic. Never just gutting a room and plastering it over, they take the time to uncover all of the secrets there first - and preserve the original finish/stone/wood/iron wherever possible. Now, they have thousands of fans world wide, have been interviewed and photographed by Vogue magazine, and the photos are breathtaking. Take a few moments to check out their transformation and transport yourself to 18th century France. Take a look too at their amazing gift shop!!! Filled with one-of-a-kind treasures that can bring a little piece of the chateau to you! These little videos are enchanting. Joyeux Noel a tous, Merry Christmas to all, and remember to put your fuzzy slippers up and enjoy!!!! xooxxoxo DR
