Oh yes. Or should I say, mais oui! I made my annual xmas trip to the tres formidable patisserie down the street "Le Petit Provence". That place is like walking into Paris! It feels completely transported straight from France... to Division street in Portland, Oregon. It's a treat for all the senses! It has the gold mirrors, the rich display full of incredible deserts, the super-efficient and knowledgeable bakers, and of course, it has the art of it, the craft of it, the all-around excellence of french pastry-making! It just feels, smells, and certainly tastes different than an american bakery. I am a vegan most of the year, but I do break down around xmas and have a couple of pastries from the gorgeous Petit Provence. Thank goodness their baguette is vegan, I can eat it all year long, and it is exactly like a great french baguette. Not some lame american interpretation. I highly recommend stopping into your nearest french bakery to add a little joyeux noel to your table. Or Pere Noel.
