"Mommy, it looks like you have a wig on". That's from Lucia. I think she saw the roots along the front of my hair. That's when you know your roots are real, real bad.
I'm using it as inspiration for my 2017 hair goals. Don't let your roots get out of control. There's no good reason. Yes, you are busy, yes, it's expensive, yes it's just a pain to remember to book the appointments. But keeping your roots in check should rank up there with eating....you just do it and make time for it, it's not an option to ignore. It's basic survival for the love of god.
I distinctly remember 10 years ago seeing my dear friend with BAD roots (she went gray early) and thinking "what is wrong with her, why doesn't she get them fixed?" I was horrified for her. Fast forward 10 years, and I've got a long list of excuses why I don't get in to my hair person. None of them are good. Now I'm the one doing the horrifying. It's the same reason I don't wear enough pretty underwear anymore. I've obviously given up the will to live. No more, it stops now. Today I vow to start better beauty habits, complete with regular hair appointments, and dare I say, regular facials? I don't want to overshoot with my ambition. For sure on the hair, maybe on the facials. Notice the pic of the can of root touch up to the right?
I don't own any, but I'm going to do some deep investigating and find some that works too. It's officially on the list.
