I remember the days when I use to get flowers all the time from John. Sometimes for no reason, always when we fought, all holidays….it was pretty great, I love flowers. I’m not entirely sure when the regular flower giving went by the wayside, but it significantly dropped off and I miss it. Maybe we fight more now so getting flowers every time would be spendy. Hhhhmmmmm.
Having JUST had Valentine’s Day, I suppose I should be grateful that I did in fact get flowers, but it made me greedy and now, as I stare at the beautiful orchids sitting in my bedroom, I realize that I should have flowers everywhere. Why don’t I? They are joyful, and happy, and sometimes I remember to fill the house with them, and other times I just forget how wonderful they are and don’t buy them for long stretches. It’s like music. Sometimes I listen to it constantly, and then I’ll forget its restorative powers and won’t listen to it for far too long. When I do again I am sad I was ever separated from it.
So today, find yourself some flowers….or A FLOWER. Doesn’t matter if it’s from your yard, or your favorite florist, or a potted flower from Home Depot that you plant. Just get some, and while you are at it buy some for someone else. I will tell you right now, everyone loves flowers, and whether you leave your husband a red rose on his office chair (kind of goofy, but also kind of cool), or you bring your 85 year old neighbor carnations, it will make YOU happy too.
I’m ready for some weekend time. I’m going to have some fun, to balance out the stressful last week. There have been little rays of sunshine between the rain showers and it is already giving me spring fever and a kick in my step. Couple that with all the new spring goodies this week, and I’m ready to lovingly pack away my winter sweaters. Find some fun, flowers and sunshine this weekend friends!
