Not. A. Moment. Too. Soon. At last….it’s Friday, and for those of us who have had to claw their way up this week, it is very exciting.
Our joy goal is to put away our shopping carts, in their proper places. That’s right….walk those few feet, and put it where it goes, don’t make someone else do it. And yes, I’ve heard the answer “well it gives someone a job.” Not really, it’s just an unpleasant one of a million that the baggers have to do, and the perfect temperate days are few compared to the freezing cold, wet, snowy or scorching hot days. Plus, it's just wrong not to put something away. It's like not busing your own dishes at a "bus your own dishes" diner. It’s always been a pet peeve of mine to see shopping carts littered around a parking lot. Costco is always the worst because from a distance perspective, the cart stalls are always kind of far away. It’s amazing how lazy people get (I've done it too), and if it’s raining….well, forget about it, people literally just leave the cart wherever,,,, like they will melt if they are in the rain too long.
So my thought is, walk your cart where it belongs, and because it is in fact raining quite often most places in these transition months, buy a decent looking spring raincoat and then you will WANT to walk in the rain. You can grab any of the water resistant jackets on special today, at 30% off (code: RAINDEFENSE) and then you’ll be: 1) getting a steal 2) staying dry and 3) fully prepared to walk your cart back. It will make someone happy if you do it!
Rumor has it Ava is planning a jail escape during her Friday night sleepover “event” at our house. The only really great thing about having two kids 21 months apart is that when they aren’t best friends, they are feuding, and when they are feuding, they rat each other out. Lucia gave me the intel…Ava’s planning on “sneaking out”—info acquired from phone tapping. It’s operation “outsmart our 14 year old” this weekend. I did what I thought was a service and told Ava that I hope she understood that we had already implemented some security measures to make it impossible for her to sneak out without us knowing (technically, this isn’t entirely true), and her response? She inferred that she’d already snuck out and clearly we had no such trap because she didn’t get caught. Not the smartest thing to flaunt your crimes, but that’s Ava for you, never one to shrink from a challenge.
So it’s game on people. I may be pulling an all nighter to make sure none of these tech savvy teens clip a security wire. Have a great weekend!
