We've thought a lot about what has made us joyful this past month, and how we can make March's mission meaningful. We want to take the very best aspects of spring, the concept of rebirth, rejuvenation and growth, and marry it with some extra attention to our own personal feeling of safety, nourishment, contentment and well being. We looked to the Danish concept of "hygge" to help lead us in the right direction. Denmark enjoys the reputation of being the happiest country in the world, and we did some digging as to why (since arguably they had the worst weather ever, and their taxes are insane). It all goes to their very deep revelry for the concept of hygge, which is the artful attainment of the feeling of comfort, safety, and happiness. It's pervasive in everything they do and there are 50 variations of the word hygge (adjective, verb, you name it). Here's our thinking, we want to marry our need to rejuvenate and refresh, with hygge. The feeling of being cared for and contentment--because let's face it, right now everyone needs a little extra nurturing. So that's what March is all about, nurturing ourselves and others, and then having the room to grow and rejuvenate.
I'm excited, we've compiled lots of great tips from lots of sources, and we're sharing them all this month. With the world storming outside, the tweets wearing out vibrate mode on our phones, crazy life with work, kids, significant others....it's exhausting and we need a way to reconnect with comfort and nurturing so that we can gain the bandwidth to grow and rejuvenate ourselves this spring.
Who's in?
To finalize our joy-fest month, today's joy goal is to put something on your March calendar that gives you joyful anticipation. Doesn't matter what, just something you are excited for and that will bring you joy. Remember, kindness is contagious, and that give me hope that we are all making a difference.
What also give me hope :-), Prairie Underground did something in pop fuchsia! FUCHSIA!! If you are a Prairie fan you know that normally we don't see pop colors..normally it's all shades of neutral, and if we are lucky a little navy and beet. This is going to be a TREAT, can't wait!
