The girls went skiing today, and the first run they went on was apparently by accident and WAY too hard for their skill level, especially right out of the box on a Monday morning. The way Ava tells the story, Lucia didn’t have enough “street smarts” to get out of the jam, and long story short, they ended up having ski patrol sled them down because Lucia declared a “ski emergency”.
None of the above makes me particularly excited about tomorrow, which is when I take on something new myself, skiing. I’ve gone cross country, but even that had some slight declines that I felt unprepared for (I took my skis off twice in Breckenridge because the hill, i.e. bunny slope, was too much for me to handle). The idea of speed, and rapidly racing down a mountain just don’t sound appealing AT ALL. What sounds appealing? Sitting home in our cute vacation rental, in front of the fire, reading my new book.
BUT, this week is about trying new things, and getting out of my comfort zone and feeling stimulated by something new. Everyone else in my family skis, I’m the odd duck out, and while my comfort zone says, “stay indoors and let them battle it out on the slopes”, I think that I might need to get out of my box, and just try it. I have never taken lessons, so I can’t legitimately say I don’t like skiing, I’m just scared. I think I should be physically fit enough (if John can do it all day, I’m pretty sure I can since he never works out). There’s really no reason I couldn’t learn, and potentially even really like it. Plus I can’t legitimately say I don’t want to do it, until I really try it right?
So wish me luck, I might need it.
Despite being in a very “anti-spring” environment, with snow everywhere and cold temps, I’m completely and totally excited to get back home and get all up in the new Spring stuff. The new MOL and Anni Kuan are fantastic…I’m super in love with the new Anni Kuan Tea blouse, and the MOL v-neck tee which is linen but has this sheen to it that makes it so exciting (as if ballerina pink wasn’t exciting enough). I’ll enjoy the snow while I’m here, but happily leave it behind for my spring wardrobe—can’t wait!
