Finally! After five years I am finally going back to New York City!!!!
One of the first lines of my blog from that visit was "....why would anyone live anywhere else?" I was so excited the last time I was there that I started combing Brooklyn real estate sites and wondering what school I could send Cora to. But alas, that particular dream was not to be. However...a whole new one is coming true!
I am appearing at the She Writes Press author table at the Book Expo of America with my all-ages fantasy novel Bridge of the Gods! I can't tell you how thrilled I am about this, it's the kind of trip that combines just about all of my favorite things in life - travel, traveling with Greg, New York City, writing, my dearest oldest friends who live there and who I get to see in their natural element, and supporting a current favorite creative project! All at the same time?! Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!!!
I just got the first marketing images for the book, and in my opinion they are truly something special. Sparkpoint Studio put together the most beautiful memes for social media - and with them comes the first world-building images for the book. Along with the amazing cover these designs really speak for my story - using the awesome blurbs my dear friends wrote for me. Thank you dear friends!!!! xoxoxo ,
This weekend was a huge push for a major deadline for the book - I'm reading through it yet again, but with the final design - so the pages look like they will in the book - and they are sooooo lovely! I am overwhelmed with gratitude at how She Writes just gets my vision - and makes it even better. I love the type font they used, the page design, the scripted over-sized letters at the beginning of each chapter - the little arched leaves over the chapter head - it's all so elegant and beautiful it makes me want to cry. I know I'm sappy, but gosh, it's just that sweet and fulfilling to see! So grateful, and I can't wait to share the finished product with you all!
Exciting times ahead - stay tuned for a daily blog post while I'm in New York, I'm sure I'll be so thrilled by every single thing I see that I'll be posting constantly. Meanwhile - we have six weeks in which to polish and prepare - and I'd better go dive back in!
Happy Monday everyone! xoxoxo Diane
