It feels like Spring. It's February 5th and it's 60 degrees outside in Portland, Oregon, and construction is booming, car stereos are pumping, people are passing out drunk in our dead end, yep, it feels like spring. One of the downsides of global warming is the weather doesn't force people to stay inside and be quiet for months on end anymore. Now it's like Southern California around here - warm all night long, shorts year round, people who live in their back yards....Calgon take me away! A pasty, moisture-loving old Oregonian introvert like me isn't ready for this loud new world!
Seriously, it's probably just where I happen to live. On the busiest street in town, just about. One that has tons of condo developments going on, as well as private home renovations. It's especially loud and constant right in this spot, and I'd probably feel tons better if I moved to a quieter street. Which I am considering doing! We've been here 13 years, it feels like a life time, and it's time for a new chapter. I've been looking around and it's of course a tricky thing to do - move. No matter what, and especially if you own your house and want to rent another - so many timing issues, etc...but hopefully it will fall into place, soon. At my age, and suffering from insomnia - I need peace and quiet. It's just the truth. Living on 50th and Hawthorne is a younger person's game.
Meanwhile it's a blast combing through the real estate and rental websites...this town is filled to the brim with beautiful homes, trees, plus the river and a few mountain views - fingers crossed we can find something charming and affordable!
Happy Monday, and happy spring, February or not!
