I'll roll these two days together, since they flew by in two seconds. My take aways.....
When you slow down and get intentional and methodical, you catch ALL kinds of things you were missing when you were going too fast. I specifically realized this as it applies to yoga, but think it extends to everything.
We went into the studio Friday night, 25 students, and we each taught several poses in front of the group. Everyone was nervous, some people were REALLY nervous. Everyone survived, and everyone agreed....you generally stress more than necessary about things. End of story.
We did a whole workshop on breathing today. Fascinating. Upshot is that if you breath deeply in thru the noise it really does help you relax. There's science behind it (increased nitric oxide). Deep breathing in general is a super important practice in and out of yoga. I'm going to spend 5 minutes each morning doing pranayama breathing, it's really a meditation, but for some reason when I've done periods of meditating I couldn't approach it purely from the standpoint of a deep breathing exercise, I focused more on the mind. I'm going to focus more on the breathing now.
It was a crazy day at the house this morning. Crazy-town. In only the way it can get with two teens (and girls no less, which I swear makes it worse), and I've never, EVER been happier that I had carved out my time for myself. I felt like going to yoga this afternoon was literally a vacation. I didn't feel even a tiny bit guilty. I hope you are carving out your time together too.
I wore a Hard Tail tank today which I love....I kind of love my yoga attire :-).
