Today is my daughter Gia's 11th birthday, and on her birthday, she gets to play hooky from school. Her request is a movie in the middle of the day and to go get Christmas nails (which could mean anything from red and green nails, to a decorative Christmas ornament painted on a nail--who knows). Really, is there anything better than a movie in the middle of the day, in the middle of the week? It definitely made "random things to love" status. I think we're seeing Fantastical Beasts. I'm not sure I really care because we're going to one of those theaters that has huge reclining seats, and they have real tea (and soy milk) (along with all the usual movie treats). Two hours of relaxation with tea in a cozy movie theater with my little G-bug...I'm not sure I care what we see!
Today is all about appreciating the gift of your body, in whatever state it is today. You know when you get sick, and you're miserable and all you can think about is how horrible you feel and how much you don't want to feel bad anymore. Well, when you finally do get better you usually don't dwell on how great it is to feel healthy or how grateful you are to feel normal--you just take normal for granted almost immediately. You spent plenty of time dwelling on how crappy you felt, but where is all the love for your body when it finally gets better and magically functions? We see it all the time in the store when women come in and try on clothes...they almost always gaze at the mirror, give a look to one side, then the other, and comment on what isn't good--too much here, not enough there, shoulders too broad, or legs too short. Where's the, "wow, I love my hips, they are fantastic!" Why is that? We have to remind ourselves to treat our body like the gift it is. Don't show it a lack of gratitude by complaining about what is wrong with it, just treat it like a gift, wrap it in wonderful things and be so, SO happy you have it.
Hard Tail is our go-to for all activities of motion for our body, and we just got a huge restock (finally) of all our classic favorites. This got us to thinking about being good to our body, moving it, keeping it healthy, and that seemed like a good reason to have a Hard Tail promo (30% off any two pieces of Hard Tail when you use code: 30GIFT. They make great gifts for our friends too. These are one of my favorite styles (to the right)--the flat waist cotton/lycra leggings in the alligator charcoal wash. I wore these yesterday to yoga actually....and I've had them for years now and they still look great!
