Can you think of anything cooler than red and green finger nails for holiday? Oh, don't forget the white polkadots on the red polish. Gia knew exactly what she wanted today when we went into the nail salon. The nail gal even commented that she (Gia) was starting a little early with the holiday colors (which she didn't seem excited about.) She tried to persuade her to get a flower instead of polkadots. Gia stood firm, down to the last detail. I got a natural manicure but I left there positively jealous of her super cool nails.
It's almost party time people. My advice, after making the same mistake over, and over, AND over again, is to pull out your party attire NOW, and make sure you know what you are going to wear to your next event. Back up. First off, make sure you HAVE a party to go to. If you don't, plan one asap. It's the holidays, and if there is one thing the holidays really bring us, it's time with the people we love in the glow of the party arena. That being said, once you've got the party(s) on the schedule, get out your outfit prospects and try them on--down to the last details (shoes, right bra, etc etc.). I can't tell you how many times I've waited until the morning of an event to drag out the dress I "thought" would be perfect only to find that for whatever reason it was no longer perfect. Then it's a scramble, and totally stressful. Pull it out, and try it out. Need some inspiration? Check out the Glitter and Glow section, and use coupon: party to take 50% off. There are some great party pieces!
My yoga wisdom today was a quote our teacher gave us to ponder: "The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak." (Hans Hofmann). Thought that was pretty great quote, especially in this chaotic time of the holidays. Keep it simple. Make it about the people you love, about spending time with the people you love, and showing them your adoration and appreciation. Staying in the moment keeps things simple. Make sure you fill your time with what's necessary for your body, mind, heart and soul.
