First off, the good stuff…..we started an “easy” sale, no coupon needed, and all the numbers are round and super awesome. It’s officially time to bundle up, the chill is in the air, and you can grab some of these great fall steals because they are SUPER good.
Second, our random thing to love is the amazing Primal Kitchen Coconut Vanilla Collagen Peptide mix, that I now make my lattes with. I wish I had stock in this company. I just bought some at New Season's (it's on Amazon too), but only after trying it out several times at the local coffee shop that is carrying packets of it (so convenient) that they will add to your milk of choice (mine is coconut), they will whip it up frothy and add it to your coffee or espresso. It’s super yummy, and from everything I read, I should look 10 years younger in no time. For reals though, it’s claimed to be amazing for your body by people smarter than me, and I know vegetarians are grossing out right now, but I will say that I’ve been adding collagen and bone broth into smoothies for a while now and when I stop, I notice. The Primal Kitchen mix is just perfect with coffee though (tastes really good), and I like the idea of getting a shot of it in the morning.
Third, I hit a yoga class yesterday morning and the teacher talked briefly about pratyahara and I wanted to share. To sum it up, it’s basically a yoga practice found in the Yoga Sutra (yoga bible equivalent), that defines the practice of pratyahara as the conscious withdrawing of the mind from the senses. How that’s useful in a practical sense as we walk around every day? Well, in this info loaded, stimulus loaded culture, and in particular this mega-crazy last two months of the year, it’s particular important to be able to withdraw a bit, step back and instead of reacting to all the stimulus, make choses about how we deal with the stimulus and what we respond to. It’s having the ability to pull back, withdraw, not react….and then you can hand out your energy with purpose and thoughtfulness when you do react. It seems fitting for this time of year, because it’s nurturing, and it conserves your energy for the most important purposes, it’s protective. The world won’t get any less crazy, and we can’t live in a bubble. Most of us aren’t moving to a farm in the middle of nowhere as much as that sounds cool, so we have to find healthy ways to withdraw and not react to everything and everyone around us. I love going to yoga, it’s like therapy, but my arms are getting stronger at the same time.
