Our call to action today is to listen to your inner voice. How is this related to our month of gratitude you ask? Well, gratitude is more than just being thankful for what you have, and what you are doing, it’s about living in the moment and giving the “present” it’s proper devotion. When you do that, it shows gratitude for life in the deepest sense. In yoga today there was a couple of different things that struck me. One, was the reminder to listen to your inner voice. We’re often so distracted, thinking about an hour from now, about what’s ahead of us (or what we left behind), that we don’t manage to listen to that little voice in our head that is guiding us in the present. The voice that silently pushes you in one direction or another, with crazy awareness of what is best for you.
Make sure you remember to listen to it today.
The other thing that struck me was the quote that we used today from David Whyte, “Gratitude arises from paying attention, from being awake in the presence of everything that lives within and without us.” This was a quote I contributed (yes, you guessed it), from yoga. It tied nicely with the bit about listening to your inner voice because it’s about listening and being aware in the moment---and paying attention. I can only speak for myself, but I know that I have contributed many-o-hour to doing things in a complete fog in the name of whatever. We over burden ourselves so much that we have no choice but to race thru at break neck speed and hold on for dear life. Not much time for paying attention—you are just trying to keep from freaking out. I know what that place is like, I’ve been there way too many times, which is why I’m talking so relentlessly about how to NOT be in that place. It’s also why I religiously go to yoga—it forces me to stop and pay attention.
Our random thing to love today is this darling gratitude jar that I found to the left. It’s a darling jar, with a big oversized cork, and on the outside is written “gratitude” in gold, and inside are 30 little slips of craft card stock paper to be distributed to guests on Thanksgiving day to write something they are grateful for, and then tossed back into the jar. Gia is in charge of collecting them, and she’s excited. We’ll read the little “gratefuls” during dessert. Super cute right? I bought the jar just out of laziness, but it would be so easy to make. Cute mason jar, gold sharpie and some cardnstock and you’ve got your grateful jar.
Last thing on the docket is our awesome one day Velvet flash sale….40% off everything in stock (we’re making room for the resort shipment which comes soon). There are some great finds right now, I’ve been wearing my black athleisure pants and sweatshirt a ton and I can safely say they wash and wear fantastic—I’m not gentle on anything and it looks great! I haven’t worn my Velvet button down yet (Velvet Jensine)—but it’s in my closet ready for some holiday action.
Tomorrow I get to start staging my Thanksgiving table (and geek out with it), pics to follow…..
