About 6 months ago a very good friend asked me for the name of my perfume. Before I knew what hit me she had bought the perfume and started wearing it. Scent appropriation. Now maybe that’s silly on my part to feel so territorial, but it was MY scent, and I liked it, and I liked not having anyone in my circle smell like it.
I’ve been thrown off ever since, thinking I needed to keep my scent (I’ve had the same for years), but wanting to get a new one because it simply BUGS me that it’s been taken….no, let’s call it for what it was, STOLEN from me.
Dramatics aside, I am pretty picky about my perfume, and I loved my last one because it came in a roller ball version that I could pop in my purse easily (and oils seem to hold scent so well). I feel like fate dropped the new line Rosie Jane, RIGHT in my lap because it’s a perfect new scent, it’s unique, and I love that it comes in a roller ball. Amanda even agreed these new smells were amazing (and she’s super weird about scents, I’ll just say that right now…picky, and sensitive to it being “too much” or “too anything”.) She even admits she's hard to win over!
The descriptions oddly enough, are sort of spot on. You can’t really go wrong, they are all great. Love the simple small size that is sort portable, but we are also getting a bigger eau du parfume size in shortly for those that want double duty!
I took a brief jaunt to San Francisco this weekend with John (literally 24 hour trip) to see my dear friend whom I’ve known since 5thgrade. Can you even imagine? It’s so long, and I look at Gia who is now in 6thgrade and I wonder if it’s possible that she might know one of her current friends for another 35 years. It’s so awesome. It’s always, every year, on my reflect and reaffirm list--to make time for friends. Friendships take time, energy, and nurturing. It’s so easy to let things go by the wayside when you are frantically busy with work, kids, life. We all know how rewarding our relationships are, and I don’t think any of us would put them at the bottom of the list, but somehow they can shuffle there in the flurry of everything else. So here’s my reminder (to myself) to reach out, connect with the people I love systematically and thoughtfully.
Lastly, it’s a three day weekend for school kids, which means it’s a three day weekend for me because there is no driving circuit on Monday, lunches to make, or schedule to keep. To this I say, hallelujah. I’m so happy!! I know I just had winter break relatively recently, but I’m already tired of the grind and I’m savoring my freebie day of no lunches and no dragging kids out of bed in the morning. It’s a gift.
