The is my goal for March--to do the opposite of freaking out. You can't watch the news from any source, or talk to just about anyone, and not have a panic attack for one reason or another. I thought it would only be election year stress, but with the new coronavirus there's a whole new layer of stress. It's hard not to get yourself all whipped up and prepping for doomsday.
Just go try to find hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, or face masks, you'll find empty shelves and frantic people searching everywhere and paying exorbitant prices, there's panic in the air. I'm not saying the concerns aren't legitimate, they definitely are understandable. We are in unchartered territory and the unknown is scary for everyone. Freaking out though? I think we can do without it.
So when I pondered what my goals for March were, I decided it was first and foremost to NOT freak out. Instead, I'm going to do the opposite and I'm going to take a deep breath and chill out.
So when people ask me if I have two weeks supply of food because they read somewhere that it was recommended by the CDC, I'm going to say, "yes, but that's because everyone should have two weeks of food for any disaster that might happen (natural or otherwise)". When people ask me if I'm going to cancel travel plans, my answer is, "no, but we might wear masks on the plane as a precaution." Things will be ok, no matter what, because we'll make sure they are. Freaking out isn't going to help, or make life better, or stop something bad from happening. Stress isn't great for your body, but relaxing, sleeping well and washing your hands IS good for your immune system so that seems like a better route.
So each day of March we're going to send out a good mantra for the day, one that calms and empowers, and I hope everyone remembers to just take a deep breath, not get caught up in the mania of panic, and remember that it will be ok. March will bring the start of spring, the rebirth of everything dormant, and hopefully some sunshine....bring it on!
Signed, ME {lv}
