It's been awhile since I've really watched any show that was interesting enough to warrant binge watching with my limited time. But let's face it, most of us have a bit more time on our hands so binge watching something sounds a lot more attractive. John and I started "Killing Eve" a few nights ago and that's pretty entertaining. Dark and violent, but entertaining and interesting. I think the last thing we watched before that was "The Stranger" which was also a good one season show (sort of like a lot of those True Detective type series that carry the storyline just one season). Curious to see what other people are watching so I can make a list!
Today was a genuinely boring Saturday, which in normal times would feel luxurious and wonderful. Now it felt a little disconcerting to be honest. I slept horribly last night and had the worst nightmare ever. I dreamt that John, after 25 years of marriage (we are actually. about to celebrate our 25th anniversary), announced that he wanted a divorce because he decided he was going to run off with someone. Anyway, it was horrible because in my dream I was devastated, and so genuinely distraught that I was exhausted when I woke up.
The other thing that broke up my sleep was Ava who walked into our room at 3 a.m. and in a regular, loud and unapologetic voice declared we needed to "take her to the hospital IMMEDIATELY". Now, if it was anyone else I would have bolted out of bed and been putting my clothes on before they uttered another word, but because it was Ava I stayed in bed and calmly replied, "I doubt it, what's up". Well, she was convinced that between the hours of 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. her appendix had gone from just fine to infected and about to burst. No joke. Her side hurt and according to her it was gravely serious. We told her she just had gas and to go back to bed and wake us up if she was still in unbelievable pain in two hours. Ava has John's hypochondriac gene, and she's super, SUPER dramatic. Any issue, and she's near death...until something distracts her and then she's perfectly fine. She slept until 11 a.m. and when I saw her in the kitchen I asked her how her side was and her relpy was, "oh fine, the infection went away". She's crazy.
Besides doing my yoga class (and yes, I'm maintaining my first thing in the morning sun salutations. and media hold off), we went on a walk, read (started a new book "American Dirt"), did a little work, texted people, and looked up recipes for all the greens I have from my organic delivery box. They are starting to pile up and I've got to move into double speed to try and find recipes for things like chard, and collard greens (which I just rarely cook). If you open my. fridge it's like an explosion of veggies. That's probably why the kids keep complaining that there is no food. The only bad deal is that these farm veggies wilt and get unhappy looking real fast, so it's a race to find ways to use them while they are looking spry.
Tonight I used a bunch of my very weird looking kale (some variety that I just don't see often), and I sauteed it with onions, garlic, then added white beans, diced tomatoes, Italian seasonings, salt & pepper and it was GOOD. I feel like I'm doing an unnatural amount of eating right now. I'm trying to chalk it up to healthy and somehow a little anti-viral protection.
