My goal was to hit the ground running today since it was Monday. Never mind that there wasn't anywhere to go really, my goal was to be productive because I've had many-o-many relaxed and drifting days of doing zippo--or worse, doing stuff that I barely remember.
So, I got myself up at the not so early time of 7 a.m. (which ridiculously HAS become early for me despite my pre-quarantine wake up time of 5:30 a.m.) Not only that, but I went to bed the night before by 10:30 p.m. so clearly, I'm not wanting for sleep. It's the first line of defense to everything so I'm fine with all the extra sleep, it's silver lining number one of the current situation.
I managed to strip two beds of linens, do wash, clean the kitchen, do a workout, and call my sister all before noon. Then I took one voyage out to get some groceries (in particular a roasted chicken), and in the process got a handful of treats to drop off at my parents house (I did a quick doorbell ring and dash), just to bring a smile hopefully.
I still had the WHOLE afternoon to do stuff. I worked on an art project, talked to Amanda for a long time, worked for threes hours, called my friend who had sweetly left a vase and big bouquet of tulips for John and I on the doorstep with the sweetest note honoring our anniversary (she's a dear friend to both of us). The words on her card were so powerful that I have to share them, "Amidst all of the unknowns in this world, particularly right now, it is incredible what the power of love can do. The resiliency, security and unconditional nature of it brings calm...is restorative, and guides us back to something that is grounded in knowing." How wonderful is that?
I took a walk with Romeo and we worked on his 4th grade spelling flashcards (he blew thru the rest of his 3rd grade cards because he's a little genius) :-).
What I mostly realized is what an opportunity this next month is. An opportunity to take the time we might find ourselves with, and do something really constructive with it, maybe even something inventive and ingenious. Not that I've actually done anything inventive or ingenious yet, but I was reminded today by how much TIME is in the day. You can do a lot, especially if you don't let yourself be crushed down by stress.
We're excited to bring you all some exciting tidbits in April to keep your spirits buoyed and life interesting. In the very near future, a Satori Rue trunk show, a Siganka group we are very excited about, Amanda's adorable coasters that she has finally promised to photograph and prepare for the world. We are going to be right here with you, every step of the way, and we can all be each other's cheer leaders and support systems as we make and keep goals, get inspired, as we pull ourselves out of momentary ruts, and we navigate the next month one day at a time.
Oh, and lastly...we're celebrating things with "good words" on it...like this darling tee that says it all. Find your favorite words and take 40% off with code: goodwords.
Mad love for everyone.
