Since the world is all turned upside down anyway, I decided to surprise the kids with Thanksgiving in MAY. I think I was maybe more intrigued with this idea than the kids to be honest, but it was fun anyway. I don't think I've EVER made a whole turkey outside of the holy day of Thanksgiving. Never. I wasn't even sure you could BUY a turkey off season. Yep, it turns out you sure can. It also turns out (according to the meat guy) that quite a few people make turkeys on the regular. Who knew?
Anyway, we had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner today. A lower stress version of the actual Thanksgiving meal and I have to say, it was super yummy (AND fun). I love this holiday, the food AND the spirit of it. Seemed like a lovely idea to do a pre-2020 Thanksgiving.
So here's to changing things up sometimes!
This will be our first week open, and we're ready to happily test the water with all our favorite people. We are navigating this new territory day by day, and we realize how weird this is for everyone (believe me, us too). We're all trying to figure out how to reach our toes out of our bubble, and into the world again. It feels odd, nothing feels normal, and it's hard to get use too. The good news is that we're all adapting together, and underneath all the new procedures, masks, and caution, are all the favorite people we love and we know we can move thru all this uncertainty together.
