After the heat wave we've been having here (high 90's and above - so not cut out for that), who would have thought that a 70 degree day would feel like this much of a magical gift?! As I'm writing this, the doors are open, no AC is on, no heat, just a gentle breeze and it feels perfect! Plus, its giving me a chance to wear my Eileen Fisher Cotton Boucle sweater for the first time, and I am VERY happy about that. I know there are only a couple of these left, but if you've had your eye on it, now is your chance! It's such a great weight, and feels so good on. I love the drape that it has, and its very effortless! I can see wearing this as the days officially do get cooler, and well into fall, layering a cami, tee or long sleeve collared blouse under it for more of a layer when needed. (and love love LOVE the silk crepe tank under it for a dressy look and fun play with textures). I know this cooler day won't be here for long and the temps will go back up, but I will use any chance I do get to put this on. Cooler evenings sitting on the patio...running to pick up bagels in the morning...quick evening ice cream run...I'll find ANY reason to wear this from here on out (and to get ice cream. ;-) ) It is also giving me major Ina Garten feels (the Barefoot Contessa), and while I've always been obsessed with her recipes and show, I'm more recently even more obsessed with her style. This sweaters screams 'Hamptons Chic' to me, and I feel like it would be Barefoot Contessa approved.
I also can't wait to get home and put on my Citizens of Humanity Lounge outfit (top and pants!). It sounds so cozy on a day like today, and will be the perfect way to end this little treat of a day. Comfy lounge clothes, a favorite candle, something comforting for dinner - I can't wait! So excited for fall! Can you tell?? haha.
Everyone seems happier today, and less irritable, and I give the credit to the cooler day taking the edge off of things, in more ways than one. It's kind of amazing what a slight shift in the weather can do, which makes me think how sometimes the littlest things can make the biggest difference. The simple act of holding a door open for someone, or helping someone figure out where they're going when they look lost, or sending a friend a quick, "hey! how's it going?" note. Sometimes it makes the biggest difference in their world, and such an easy thing to do! That's also what I'll be doing today. :)
So here's my virtual hug to everyone, a note about how much I love my new Eileen Fisher sweater, and how inspiring, motivating, and uplifting a slightly cooler day can be! Fall is ahead, and I can't wait! I hope you're excited, too!
BIG HUG,
AT
