I have a few "missions" that I've placed myself solely in charge of to spread the word of things I think people should be doing. Todd rolls his eyes whenever someone brings up anything remotely close to any of these topics because he knows I will find a way to make a connection, and go on a 10 minute tirade about why you should be doing this, or buying that. I get passionate, what can I say?!
Today's passionate topic of obsession is facial steamers. Are you using one yet? Because you should be!! I've had mine for almost a year, and I can't even remember life without it. Especially with all the mask wearing, I can't imagine how much worse my skin would be without it! There are so many benefits to this, it's hard to know where to start.
- The first one, is about every third time I'll do a steam, Todd will ask me the next morning "did you steam last night?", and that makes my day. Now, he has a pretty good chance of hitting the mark with that question since chances are more likely that I've steamed rather than not, but still, there is a noticeable difference.
- It's relaxing - a little quiet time to zone out, listen to a podcast, watch mindless TV, and just soak in the steam and unwind.
- Mixed with the Ktisch Dermaplaner, and a MaskerAide mask its like a deluxe spa treatment you can do whenever you want!
- The steam helps open up your pores, cleans them out, and makes them more receptive to soak up all the lotions and serums and whatever other magical beauty potions to make your face glow. The particular steamer I have has a few different settings if you're looking for pore shrinking, detoxing, deep cleanse, hydration etc. I don't have them all memorized because I usually just use the same few over and over again, but it will switch back and forth thru intervals of hot and cool steam to do what you're intending to do. The cool steam is nice in the morning if you're feeling puffy, and the hot steam feels especially good on a chilly winter evening.
- So far, I haven't found a lot that a good facial steaming won't fix. Long day? steam. Stressed out? steam. Face breaking out? steam. Want some peace and quiet? Close the door and steam. Want to get the full power out of all your lotions and serums when applying? Steam first.
Besides all the obvious things you're supposed to miss when you leave home for any length of time, my steamer is HIGH up on that list. Maybe even above some things it shouldn't be. haha. Love the refreshed, glowy skin it gives me, and the mental relaxation it provides. Someone did mention that there are travel size facial steamers also, so that's next on my list! I did recently get a lap desk for my bed - it's supposed to be for lap tops, but its perfect for steaming in bed, and holds the steamer that the perfect height. ;) Also has plenty of room for a drink and snacks, because that just elevates the steaming experience that much more. Plus, it gives Todd one more thing to shake his head at when he seems me in full steam mode! haha. He has tried steaming a few times, and does enjoy it, too!
So if you don't have one, go - get a facial steamer. Thank me later. :)
