Do you want to know how I woke up this morning? I'll tell you right now, it wasn't in a relaxing manner. I woke up to the sound of my phone vibrating on my side table. My phone sound is shut off between 11-6, but it does vibrate from 6:00 a.m. onward. So at 6:04 a.m. the phone starts vibrating, which immediately woke me up, much the way you can be dead asleep and your kid barely says your name all the way in the next room and immediately you are up. No one calls this early, I knew it had to be something bad.
My unconscious brain immediately feared something must be wrong. I looked down at the phone and it was my dad's number. So instantly I'm thinking, "oh crap, what is wrong?" I tried to answer but no one was there. I then texted, "are you ok??" The response? "Oh yeah, how are you? Good morning." Huh? Turns out, my dad had butt dialed me. Not emergency at all. I did my sun salutations after that but it didn't quite get me in the zone like it should have.
On a totally other note, Amanda told me a great idea that I started to use today. Her idea (which isn't her idea at all, she read it somewhere, so it's really someone else's good idea), is to go thru each room of your house and write down 5 things you could do to improve it. I started that today, and it's sort of brilliant because I regularly walk into rooms in my house and think, "Oh, I need to do that", but then walk out and promptly forget. So now you have a list of things you could do, or that you might need, that will improve a room. Thinks like "wash walls", "need new trash can", or "need bath caddy". I don't know why this silly exercise was so useful to me, but it was. I think because I just lack the organization or memory to actually follow thru with any of the things I need to do around the house. I have a weekend coming up that is going to have some free time in it, and while I don't want to pressure myself with anything hugely ambitious, it would be nice to at least knock a few things off of my "room improvement" list.
Lastly, I felt such a rush of summer optimism with the new Siganka shipment that arrived today! I absolutely love the airy cotton, and the easy styles...it just feels like sun to me!! I love this line, and I love it because the styles are easy and I've worn them to death (some of my favorite summer travel pieces), but also because I love the designer. She's a wonderful soul, loves what she does, and has this beautiful hybrid of a spirit....she lives in both Hawaii and Vermont (although I think more Vermont now) , and there is something about her balance that just comes across in everything she does. It's exactly the zen, relaxed vibe you'd expect. Anyway, it makes me feel even better supporting the line. Bring. On. The. Sun.
